“Confined”

This is the first of a new Star Wars series I’m creating for Acme Archives fine art line.  Each character I recreate from the Star Wars universe will be on a specific colored paper to match their personal aesthetic.

When creating “Confined”, I wanted a color study that would resemble Tatooine, but also not dominate over the femininity of Princess Leia’s beauty.  I found a paper color called “Anise”, it immediately matched the mood.

Available as both giclee on paper and canvas limited edition-http://www.acmearchivesdirect.com/product/SWOTLTD157/Confined.html?cid=203

Cinderella

Client-Acme Archives Direct/Disney Fine Art

As most of you know I’ve been creating a new product line for Acme Archives’ Disney and Star Wars Fine Art programs. I probably have around 10 completed pieces that will be debuting throughout the year.

The Rapunzel in my gallery is the first of the series to be used as a Limited Edition. This Cinderella is not published by Acme, the editor wanted to hold off on it due to it’s similarities between my art and the special edition dvd cover. So I’ll be throwing another Cinderella in the mix later down the road.  The original art is available.

Commissioned from a private party-
I was excited to get this commission, I remember watching this film with my brother for the first time nearly 15 years ago.  It was then I grew a passion for anime, and the Japanese style of story telling.

Ariel Sketch for Disney Fine Art

This is a preliminary sketch I did for Acme Archives Direct. This was an idea the editor wanted to see for Disney’s fine art program where Ariel was kind of searching for the surface world.

The original art is for sale, and financing options are available through Artinsights.(If interested, you can contact me directly for more information, ben@bencurtisjones.com)

Publishing News and Upcoming Projects

Acme Archives will be publishing my Repunzel Head Study you see in my gallery, I don’t yet know what the edition will be nor the price point.  But once I get the news I’ll share.  They’re also publishing another Disney piece I have not shown yet that will hopefully be up in the next week.  Here’s a hint, “he lives in you”.

As far as my current projects goes, I’m currently working on a Jedi piece for Acme as well as a Little Mermaid for their Disney collection.  Outside of Acme I’ve been working on novel covers, a few for Raider Publishing and some others.

I know my shedule is busy, but you’re always welcome to throw ideas of what you would like to see in the future at me.

I’ll keep everyone in the loop as best I can.

Completed for Lucasfilm Ltd.-

I remember my first glimpse of Tatooine as I watched R2 and 3P0 pass by the skeletal remains of a sand creature.  The two moons setting in the pale sky filled me with curiosity about a world outside of my own.  Then there was the force; it was all around us, binding us together and made up of all living things.

“I wanted a concept of religion based on the premise that there is a God and there is good and evil.  I began to distill the essence of all religions into what I thought was a basic idea common to all religions and common to primitive thinking.”-George Lucas

When I took on this project and ventured to Tatooine, my goal was not only to capture the elements, characters, and environments of the story, but also to bring back the emotions George Lucas intended for us to have during its development nearly 4 decades ago.

“A New Hope” reminds us that successful story telling requires much more than just a high budget and special effects; it must inspire our hearts.
